Oracles & Interoperability.
Cross-chain messaging, bridges and data oracles that connect isolated chains.
Oracles and interoperability protocols are the plumbing that connects otherwise isolated chains and connects those chains to the outside world. Oracles deliver prices and real-world data onchain; messaging layers and bridges move assets and instructions between execution environments.
This is among the most load-bearing infrastructure in crypto and among the least glamorous. Every lending market, perpetual venue and stablecoin depends on a price feed being correct, and a large share of the biggest exploits in the industry's history trace back to a manipulated oracle or a compromised bridge rather than to a flawed application.
That makes security model the whole investment case. Who can halt or corrupt the feed, how many independent parties must collude, whether the bridge is validated by a light client or by a multisig, and how much value is secured relative to the cost of attacking it. On the commercial side, watch fee capture โ many of these networks secure enormous value while charging very little for it, and that gap is the open question.
